  • What are ANSI and DIN standards

In general, most impact sockets are based on US. spec called ANSI (American National Standards

Institute) or Germen spec called DIN (Deutsches Institut für Normung).

The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) is an organization that oversees the development

of voluntary consensus standards for products, services, processes, systems, and personnel in the

United States. The organization also coordinates U.S. standards with international standards so that

American products can be used worldwide. These standards ensure that the characteristics and

performance of products are consistent and tested in the same way.

Deutsches Institut für Normung (DIN)  (the German Institute for Standardization) is the German national organization for standardization and is the German ISO member body. There are currently around thirty thousand DIN Standards, covering nearly every field of technology.

  • Standard Sockets vs Impact Sockets

Regular hand tool sockets and some lower quality ½” drive impact sockets are usually made from chrome vanadium steel, (CR-V) which is structurally strong but generally more brittle, and therefore prone to breaking or shattering when exposed to shock and vibration.

All Meteor Impact Sockets are manufactured for the professional using chrome molybdenum steel (CR-MO), a ductile elasticity material that allows the socket to bend or stretch rather than shatter this also helps to avoid unusual deformation or damage to the tool’s anvil and ensures safety in the workplace.

Impact sockets can be recognised because of their black finish which is also designed to help protect against corrosion, generally electro plated on lower spec chrome vanadium products and phosphate/magnesium on the more professional and Meteor Chrome Molybdenum products.

The wall of an impact socket is also up to 50% thicker than that of a regular hand tool socket, making it suitable for use with pneumatic impact tools because the more mass the socket has, the more of an impact it will make against the fastener. In other words: More mass = Greater impact

  • Impact Socket Warranty

Meteor Impact Sockets Ltd provide a standard 12months warranty which covers any material or manufacturing defects which would normally occur or become apparent at first use.

It does not cover general wear and tear, damage caused by neglect, defects and failure due to abnormal operating conditions.

We recommend that sockets are only used with tools with the correct drive sizes, we do not provide warranty for sockets used with tools with an alternative drive size or used with any type of adaptor.

    WARRANTY EXCEPTIONS:
